Tom Zabel, Planning & Zoning

Thomas Zabel has 35 years of experience in the development/design and construction industry. Along with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, he has also received a certification from the Green Building Council of a LEED Accredited Professional along with Licenses for General Contracting and Construction Superintendent from Florida and Massachusetts. Tom completed the Segment I of the Connecticut Inlands Wetlands training, in concert with serving as a current commissioner on the Inlands and
Wetlands Board. He has previously served as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Born and educated in Burlington, Tom has owned a design-build construction company and has worked on the “other” side of the table promoting responsible design for communities in the commercial segment. Designing his own home in Burlington in the early 80’s, the house used the latest technology in passive solar design and systems to create a sustainable energy-efficient residence. Strong belief in the life style and respect for the community provides a unique perspective for understanding the impact on the town of the need to assure the values and character are maintained while continuing to provide the residents with the growth contiguous with our history.
