Richard Miller, Planning & Zoning
Richard A. Miller is 62 years old. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Haven. Shortly after he married his wife Patricia in 1975, they built a house on Cricket Lane in Burlington where they still reside. He has two daughters and a son. He worked for a number of years at Gavlick Machinery in Bristol before starting his own business, RAM Machinery Corporation. He also owns Mountain Meadows Corporation and the Burlington Green Properties, LLC.
He has been volunteering in town since 1993 when he first became a member of the Planning and Zoning Board, serving as Vice-chair of that board from 1999-2001. He was a committee member of the Plan of Conservation and Development in 1997 and again in 2007. He was Burlington’s representative on the Central Connecticut Regional Planning Agency from 2000-2002 and a member of the Open Space Committee from 1999-2001. In February of 2002 he became a member of the Inland Wetlands and watercourse Commission, serving as Chairman of that board from July 2002 until July 2007. He served a term on the Board of Selectmen from 2008-2010. Presently, he is a member of the Conservation Committee and has been filling a vacancy on Planning and Zoning since last year. He and his wife are life members of the Burlington Historical Society as well as the Burlington Library Association.
Richard is a familiar figure in town. He regularly attends the Board of Selectmen’s meetings, Inland Wetlands and Economic Development as a private citizen. If elected to Planning and Zoning, he would bring years of experience on town boards along with the same dedication he has shown in the past.
