Christa L. Ronalter

Christa L. RonalterGrowing up in a three bedroom, one bathroom Cape in Bristol, with three other siblings, I realized the sense of family and sacrifices.
My father worked for the Town of Bristol while my mother worked a 3rd shift job at a hospital so that one parent could be home with my siblings and I. My family didn’t have fancy cars or lavish clothing, however my parents gave a tremendous amount of love and support, including support of my athletic activities by being at every game rain or shine.
While I have learned so much in the classroom in both high school and college, many of my important lessons in life came on the fields. What I learned was teamwork, working hard to achieve goals, winning with humility, recognizing that you cannot always win and growing from mistakes that I have made along the way.
Now as a mother of two boys at Lake Garda Elementary School, I strive to do the same for my children. My passion is to make sure they are provided with the best academic courses in the Region #10 District and that all athletic programs are made available for them. If I am elected to the Board of Education my goal will be to make sure the taxpayers’ dollars are going to academic and athletic programs, not increased salaries. In a difficult economic time when the vast majority of workers in Connecticut are getting no raises.
During this time of economic crisis, we need to control spending and re-prioritize our decisions. We need to put our focus back on our children’s needs and not about the “riches” of life.
