Message from the Chairman
Welcome to the Burlington Democratic Town Committee web site. We represent the Democratic Party in Burlington, Connecticut by working together to bring you the most qualified candidates through a process of nomination, campaigning and election. It is our mission to work together with our town’s residents, regardless of political affiliation, listening to the issues that affect our community while seeking the best result for Burlington. We have great respect for the many volunteer organizations that make our town a better place. Our firm belief is in transparency of government and an open door policy for the information and interest of our citizens.
If you are interested in hearing more about the Democratic Party and its candidates for the November 8, 2011 local election, please read our website as well as the Burlington Democrats Facebook site, where you can connect with the candidates.
There are a variety of appointments to boards and commissions, which you may view on Burlingtonct.us. Although over the past two years we have had little input on these appointments, we hope to – under the leadership of Ted Shafer, candidate for First Selectman – open the process up again to include all volunteers with experience and a commitment to Burlington and its future.
I welcome you to contact me, Daniel Zabel, Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee, at this website for further information. The Burlington Democratic Town Committee meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at Town Hall. We are proud of our town and welcome your interest in both the election process or to volunteer for service on a Town Board or Commission.
Our candidates are participating in the “Meet The Candidates Night” sponsored by the Burlington Public Library, which will be held on October 13, 2011 at 6:30 PM at Lewis Mills High School auditorium. NBC 30 political reporter Tom Monahan will be the moderator. We invite you to join us and meet people who are your neighbors, parents of children in Region 10, have dedicated hundreds of hours to various boards and commissions, and whose beliefs are universal – the gradual growth of a unique town, with every effort made to do this without raising your taxes. Ted Shafer, First Selectman candidate, and Board of Selectmen candidates Carl Salsedo and Kathy Zabel pledge to you that they will return to you a Board of Selectmen that is always available, transparent and there to meet your concerns. Come ask your questions!
Please remember to VOTE on NOVEMBER 8th! This is your chance to be a part of the future direction of Burlington.
